About the Artist:

I taught Fine Art until I retired at 60 then ‘encouraged’ Adults for another ten years or so. Art History is a strong interest; I have had the privilege of travelling extensively all over Europe visiting the galleries, museums, stately homes/palaces/ and villas.

I am Scottish but reside in a small village in the county of Lincolnshire, England. The surrounding countryside is very flat but the skies are marvellous to paint. I paint en plein air if at all possible or use my sketch books for inspiration. Almost any subject interests me and this dictates the medium I use. Egg Tempera/watercolour are my preferred mediums.

Framing

Please continue scrolling to view more artwork.

Framing - Mats and Frames are not included. Suggestions here:

If you see artwork that is not a standard frame size, getting a custom mat and frame is one option. However, you may consider having a custom mat made and sizing the outer dimension of the mat for a standard size frame. IF a standard frame size does not look suitable, a custom Do-It-Yourself frame is another option that is very reasonable. One company to start you off and is recommended is: http://www.americanframe.com/

Please inquire about sizes before a print is shipped to you. Most prints can be printed in sizes that are different than what is listed. If it does not diminish the quality of the work, we can print smaller or larger...it will be determined on an individual basis.

About this painting: "It was started as a plein air piece, on location in central Italy. I was particularly attracted to the early morning light, falling behind the rocks. I also wanted the rocks to be the main focus with the shifting colors created by the rushing water. I tried to get down as much information as I could from nature, hoping to recreate the freshness of the morning stream."
